Watching an American film,"Nomadland"

Image
I had been a big fan of The Academy awards since I was 13 years old. I was used to guess the awards before I couldn't even watch some nominated films in Japan and hand over the paper I wrote my bet to my mother until the oscars day when I was a teenager. Anyway, I was looking forward to watching a this year's sure bet film,"Nomadland". I recently watched it. Because  I had been a long movie buff wastefully, some scenes of this film reminds me of some films such as "Days of Heaven", ”The Whale of August", and, a French film, " Vagabond ”  I have a common with a leading role's husband liked DIY for a car(So does my husband), therefore, I started to synchronize Frances Macdormand's character in this film. But, Not her, I felt relieved to watch her sister's home and realized I can't live like this film. I was fully enjoyed this calm, big and beautiful American nature scenery film which recapture my past that one kind old couple in Cali...

Review of a Japanese novel, "My Fave, flaming"

Image
I just read the Akutagawa Prize(Japanese Booker Prize?) winning novel "My Fave, flaming" now. I have not been reading the Akutagawa Prize novels for many years. I had happened to read again this novel because my old friend recommended another prize nominated novel,"Conjuge(a partner in Portuguese)" cause I asked him this time's prize guessing novel when he always forecasts the Prize winner. I finished to read the novel" Conjuge" just before the Prize announcing.  I would like to read the winning novel "My Fave, flaming" cause these two books seemed to be same subject, Admiring idol. After reading two novels, My favorite taste of novel is "My Fave, flaming". The written expression in this one is very interesting. I couldn't deny " Conjuge" has also easy to read written expression. Especially, The leading character who becomes a fan of British idol rock star like Freddy  Mercury, Mark Bolan reminds me of the time findin...

My memoirs of David Lean's films

Image
I am doing choirs while a film" Doctor Zhivago" on Japanese television now.  My first film experience of a British film maestro, David Lean's works at a movie theater was " A passage to India".  There were  only me, my mother and a young mother with a baby child in the big cinerama system theater in Japan's motor city.  The British actors' boom in Japan never happened at that time before films like " Another Country" and "Maurice" came to Japan. I was overwhelmed by his film's location and main characters' delicate feelings even I was a junior high school student who had not studied Indian history yet. I was lucky to watch his late film in the big theater on the original release date. I watched another his film "Ryan's daughter" some years later.  I also was almost alone with another stranger in an empty old once adult movie theater in my town. I am wondering you'd better watch his films on the big screen wh...

Review of Japanese TV program" Hospital Radio"

Image
This irregular on-air TV show in Japan is about talk radio show in hospitals with the most popular Japanese comedian duo, "Sandwitch man". Every guest who is hospitalized talks each life story cheerfully even their serious desease. Their talks make you moved and lighten up.  The hosts, "Sandwitch man" have excellent talking skills not to make patient guests look miserable and too much  admiring. I am writing about them in the near future. Homepage of NHK's Hospital Radio

Review of Japanese drama"School Meals Time"

Image
This drama is not a recent Japanese drama cause it was on-air in 2019. But, the movie" School Meals Time Final battle" putted on the screen in 2020. I was really into watching this drama. This story is about battle of a junior high school teacher who is obsessed with school meal and his student who is also not thinking about daily school meals over how to eat their every day's school meal much more deliciously. This drama's plot reminds me of Wes Anderson's movie, "Rushmore" which was a battle of a high school student and a businessman.  It was funny to me for the battle of a neat grown-up and a kid seriously. Some Japanese drama tends to copy an American films (even much more Japanese drama before Internet age). I was disappointed to find such a copycat drama.  But, I admit this drama is trying to develop another situation. This drama was made by some local TV stations(not network television). I guess there was lessbudget than another Japanese TV drama...
